The BBC gave us a very special treat this evening with their showing of ‘Songs of Praise’ featuring Chris De Burgh. We were especially delighted to watch his rendition of ‘A Spaceman Came Travelling’, which he introduced to the kids with the words “if you can imagine for a while that the star over Bethlehem was a spaceship”. Genius.
Chris, surely, is the marmite of singer-songwriters. With his hit classic, the ‘Lady in Red’, turning up in both the top five most adored and dispised songs. Bill Bailey has made his own affection, or lack thereof, quite public in his sketch ‘The Scale of Evil’.
