There are a few sweep stakes that I think might be worth encouraging:
- If so, when will Tim propose? (Nearest hour)
- If ever, when will I? (Nearest year*)
- Baby Flint and Baby ‘Apple’ Mac are both due early Nov, when and who pops first?
- How long long ’til the next baby blog? Who?
- How long ’til Sally starts blogging again?
- How long I stay in this call centre job? (I’m on day 67, or 49 working-days)
Obviously it could be a bit too much to do all of them. Any more suggestions? What do you prefer? Any takers?
Whereas many thought that working in a call centre would give me extra grace for those that cold call me, I haven’t really done that. Much like my attitude in a bar, I’m that slight touch more critical. I guess when you start learning how to do something you are quicker to see faults, strengths, and supposedly polite comments that are laced with attitude.
Effective Approach:
- Don’t just hang up, Colin the cold caller will just call and re-pitch you later.
- Be polite but firm, wrestling control of the conversation away from Colin.
- Ask where he got your number from, Colin probably won’t know.
- Make sure you request being taken off/excluded from their database.
- Wish them a nice day.

We* went to Edale for the weekend. A quick and easy, cheap and simple escape from the city. And even though the price of beer is the same, they are worlds apart. We shrugged off the thunderstorms on Saturday and headed into the relatively safe pub for food, Black Sheep and the weekend papers. Kindly enough, the weather eased up and put its hat on leaving us with clear skies overnight and a scorching Sunday.
Majority of the time was spent moseying around the river; enjoying weird trees, cute bridges, and the sounds of rushing water. Our pitch was decent, with good shelter from the storms and the morning sun. Unfortunately the working farm barn was a little too close; sheep are so bleating noisy!
Now that we’ve had our taste ot it, it was a little bit of a warm up to bigger and better adventures, we hope to get away for a longer weekend later this summer.
*That’s a reference to Fran for all you moaners out there.
