Apple’s long-maligned internet service called .Mac has finally died… woop, woop. And they have replaced it with MobileMe, which they describe as “Enterprise for the rest of us”.
Initial impression is that this looks great. When I used to provide first line IT support at my previous job I always wondered why businesses had the monopoly on ‘cloud computing’ and ‘hot-desking’. By the way, expect Apple to be hitting home hard the concept of cloud computing. You can tell by their branding of MobileMe just how important the cloud concept is.
Being essentially a single device, single location user at present I have no real need for MobileMe. But I am a mobile guy. I am also hoping to get an iPhone and I am known to borrow my mate’s iMac or iBook. I also have early-adopter pangs (though a little self control can help you get cooler products at cheaper prices) to deal with. So who knows, maybe I’ll be providing a review of the service … check back in 6 weeks.
