JUNO

We went to see this film tonight and all I have to say is that it is totally wizard.

Stamen: Keeping my eyes open.

I currently have an uber boring temp job stuffing envelopes.  So I have the computer on my desk pointing to weird and wonderful little internet sites.  I have been enjoying having the work of Stamen Design decorating the monitor.  I enjoy experimental and creative display of data.

In particular: Cabspotting traces San Francisco’s taxi cabs as they travel throughout the Bay Area, and DiggSwarm provides a petri dish of popularity.

Say No To Adverts

I can’t stand adsense on weblogs. Seriously, why is there a need to compromise your content and design, as well as the surfing integrity*, in order to rack up a few pennies for yourself and google?

I’m not that much of a fan of those amazon sponsored ‘Recent Reading’ lists, but at least you choose what books to link, and it’s design impact is truly minimal. Surely you aren’t going to make any noticable money unless your site is super famous and demands that the majority of viewers actually visit your site, rather than using RSS. So adsense on my blog would be like getting those crappy classifieds from the back of the metro and tattooing them to my face for the price of a cup of decent tea.

So, on that note I would just like to plug the online garden sale that is happening over at DbG. A couple of items have already gone, so check it out now.

*By this I mean you are pointing readers to sites chosen by sponsored google links rather than those chosen by yourself, in the context that good blogs should be open ended portals.
